Like you, I have been called overprotective, since 1979. But now I really know just how sick humans can be. I did not fully know that before Trenton went missing and I went searching for him here. My one grandson knows who Trenton Duckett is, he lets me know when he see's Trenton pic at Walmart. He also knows who Ivan Cano is. (He thinks he and Trenton and Ivan all look like brothers). My daughter thinks I am nuts for talking to him about them. I think he is somewhat more aware that folks are not all nice.

Maddie's parents may be wealthy and smart and good looking, they may have had all but one thing, that awareness of danger that most of us here seem to have.
I think the awareness comes more from Americans actually being more involved in the parenting process, versus the practice of so many English families to use full time nannies, who are basically surrogate parents to so many children.
Those parents who utilize nannies and governesses seem to be somewhat removed from the full scope of awareness and the responsibilities entailed of supervising their children 24/7/365, while those who parent their children full time are more in tune with their surroundings and with the potential perils that can befall children whom are left unattended, IMO.

Madeleine McCann inquiry ends: 'parents to be cleared'

The investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has been completed by Portuguese police amid reports that no evidence has been found against her parents.

The Portuguese Attorney-General confirmed today that prosecutors had received the final police report and would now consider if the investigation should be closed.

Kate and Gerry McCann were awaiting official confirmation of the decision and insisted that they would “never give up searching” for their daughter who vanished last May from the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz.
