8-year-old Robert Manwill

The mother of an 8-year-old boy found dead in an Idaho canal and her live-in boyfriend have been indicted on first-degree murder charges by an Ada County grand jury.

Thirty-year-old Melissa Jenkins and her boyfriend, 36-year-old Daniel Ehrlick Jr., were arrested Tuesday in the death of Jenkins' son, Robert Manwill. The two also face charges on accusations that they failed to report the boy's death.

This case really ticks me off & saddens me to no end! Can anyone please tell me why on earth this mother was even allowed to have unsupervised visitation with any of her children? Poor Robert never stood a chance in the hands of this women. To think this is his 2nd child lost to being murdered is just out of this world unbelievable. May the lord find a way for this man to go on in life as I know everyday will be just about unbearable for him. RIP Robert Manwill may you be up in heaven arm & arm with your brother. God bless the two of you.

ITA! When it 1st came out that the mother was convicted of harming her other child it shocked the heck outta me that she was allowed unsupervised visitation with this child. IMO, the whole system that is supposed to be watching over and protecting these children is failing, and we're seeing it more & more each day. And it's not just in this case, it's everywhere. I know the real answer is they are cash strapped with fewer workers, but that is not acceptable. Someone needs to start hold these agencies accountable

Indictment: Daniel Erhlick Jr. tortured and beat Robert Manwill to death

Eight-year-old Robert Manwill was killed by Daniel Erhlick Jr., who tortured and beat him to death while Manwill's mother, Melissa Jenkins, hid her son from government authorities who might have helped him.

Quote:
Ehrlick Jr., 36, inflicted repeated acts of blunt-force trauma to the abdomen and/or the head of Manwill with his hands, knees, fists and/or feet and/or by other means of physical force, physical abuse or emotional abuse, according to the indictment. The beatings caused bruises, abdominal bleeding and injuries and head injuries that prompted Manwill's death on or about July 24.

So senseless, especially for the poor father of Robert

If I had known they just wanted to use him for a punching bag I'd a got in my damn car and went and rescued him myself! I am not that far from Boise. That poor boy was so frightened. I read that someone, a neighbor, saw Robert with his dog, and he was worried about his dog getting away. He was shaking and upset that his mother, the evil witch, and DE would find out and get angry at him for it.

I friggin' want to be a vigilante.

what the heck is America's problem? Manwill's 1st wife is already out of prison for stabbing her 4 year old to death! And that happened in 1993. Drug dealers get more time than that.

So basically, if you want to murder your child, move to ID! Is that the message they want people to get?

The problem could be solved if they could make the accuser accountable so that DCF is not tied up with manpower and funds to monitor cases like Trenton Duckett. So many cases are out there where DCF is called just to get even with the spouse, or girlfriend/boyfriend, or daughter in laws, or neighbors because someone is mad. The accusers need to come up with proof not just allegations. And let them pay for attorneys to prove it, not have the defender pay attorneys to prove a negative. Innocent until PROVEN guilty, then get DCF involved. If a child is abused there will be visible evidence.
